Archive for February, 2008

For my Project 365 I decided to also post my pictures on flickr. The group that I post has weekly challenges, and this week is “you in the mirror”. After church, and after naps, we had dinner, and I still had not taken any pictures. The kids were going to bed (Jonathan wasn’t asleep…but should have been!) so there wasn’t much to photograph. So I decided to go ahead and do the challenge. I probably took 50 pictures, then browsing through them I finally found one that was half decent. Now I don’t like my smile much, especially when I am trying to smile, so that’s why most of the shot is my camera!  It’s a pretty camera :)

It’s getting closer…

The move that is! We went out to the house today to do a few things, and just see how things were coming along (and no the shower is still NOT done!). We do have granite for our counter-tops though. He has even installed three slabs, and has a fourth one almost ready (just needs to sand the corners down).

Here is a picture of our desktop in the kitchen.

Shane hung up the curtain rods so that I would have some measurements to start with. I also got the fabric for our living room windows cut so I can start making those when I go visit my mom. We also bought some numbers to put on the house. Jonathan laid them out very neatly!

Lynn Burgess is putting the stone up outside and he is almost done. He has the front porch and pillars left to do. He has spent the last couple weeks (on warm days) wallowing through the mud do get it done for us. He just lives up the street so he will be one of our neighbors!

And here is a look at the front of the house… mud and all!

We just need about five more dump truck loads of rock and then we should be ready to move in without getting the truck stuck!

Playing outside in the cold

February 19, 2008

For the last few days Jonathan has had a “friend” come knock on the door asking if he can play. We were always on the way out the door to do something, or on our way upstairs to get ready for bed. So today when he saw his friend outside he wanted to go play. So I told him he could if he stayed in front of the house where I could check on him since Sean was asleep.  I went out later when Shane got home and got some pictures…

And here he is… chasing after his first girl!

MTC

February 18, 2008

Today is a big day! Shane’s parents are going to serve a mission in the Samara, Russia Mission and will be gone for 2 years. This is the last we will see of them in person until they get back. They are very excited to be going, as you can see below! They have been planning for this for years, and the day has finally come. Today they entered the MTC, and in one week they leave for Russia. Not much time to learn the language, but they will do fine once they just jump right in! They have had a tutor over the phone for a few months so they won’t be completely lost :)

Here is the whole gang!

See you in two years!

Sean

February 13, 2008

Recently Sean has discovered his tounge. He frequently will stick it out (not very far because he can’t) and try to grab it with his fingers. I was trying to get a picture of this tonight. I did get one of those but the look on his face here is even better!

Jonathan

February 12, 2008

I thought I would add this picture of Jonathan playing Grandma Garner’s piano. It will be nice to be so close to her so Jonathan can learn how to play the piano. I know I wouldn’t get very far with him if I tried…

Finishing touches

February 12, 2008

Today we had a few things going on at the house. The cabinet makers hung all the doors and put knobs on. They look awesome! I think the main reason I built a house is because of the cabinets! So here is a bunch of pictures of the cabinets. Thanks to Warren D. Thomas who made the cabinets.

This is our island. It is a darker finish. The main cabinets are “Canyon” and the island is “Dusk”.

Here is Jonathan’s bathroom. He is very excited about his large door!

Here is our computer desk and shelves. The large bottom half will have our safe and computer.

This is Jonathan helping Warren. He was a big help!

We also got our carpet installed. (This is the only picture I took of the guy because I had to get back to mom’s house so she didn’t have to teach piano with Sean on her lap)

And we have some of the stone up on the outside. It looks good now, but when it has the sealant on it will look even better.

And for those of you wondering… we still do not have anything new happening on the bathrooms :( Not too happy with that development (or lack thereof) because now he will be walking all over my new carpet. ARRRRRRRGH!

Snow day

February 10, 2008

We went to Shane’s parents on Saturday because it was their mission farewell on Sunday.  When we arrived we saw lots of snow!  They decided to get the snow of the roof before the front porch caved in.  They had been working all day, so Shane took Karl’s place and jumped up on the roof.  Slava was also helping on the roof, while Dad and Mom tried to keep up by moving it off the sidewalk.  Jonathan and Kayden had lots of fun playing in the snow…unfortunately I didn’t get any pictures of that because I was in knee deep with them!  Ok, I had fun!

Shane decided to be a great parental example by jumping off the roof…

2 more pictures of the house

February 10, 2008

Here are two more pictures of the house.  This first one is of the kids shower.  It looks pretty nice… I just wish he would finish!

The next one is our garage doors… boring!  But you can also see the rock work which looks really nice.

Lots of house pictures!

February 7, 2008

Ok, today there are a lot of pictures from the house… But that just means that a lot is happening! First of all we finally have power connected! They said it would be 2 weeks minimum from when they received payment. Six weeks after we paid for them to come out, they finally arrived.

Wade finished the ballisters.

The showers actually have stuff on the walls! I forgot to get a picture of the kids bathroom, but I’ll get it on Saturday. Here is our shower. Since we now have power, he can work until midnight!

And finally… tada! we have cabinets!

He gave me the “Lamborghini” of cabinet hardware… When you close them, even if you close them too hard, they automatically slow down and close themselves. Pretty nifty! Here are some closeups.

In the bathrooms, we have finally closed off the “mysterious” walkway! Now, no one needs to ask why we have the bathrooms connected…

There you have it! I told my mom today while I was showing her everything (she hasn’t seen it since before we painted!)… anyway I said that for it being such a small house we have lots of storage room. I’m getting more and more excited to move in! I’m picking out faucets and sinks tonight, and that’s about all I have left to “choose”. We are getting carpet installed on Tuesday next week and they can also get started on the countertops.
