Last night we needed a break from the kids, so Shane and I decided to take a drive up the canyon. It was soooo quiet! At the top we stopped to take a few pictures. The leaves aren’t changing yet, but the aspens were just wonderful! And the light as the sun set was awesome. Here are a few pictures.

Canyon drive
August 29, 2009First grade here we come!
August 19, 2009Today is the first day of school. Jonathan is officially in 1st grade! Yesterday we went to meet his teacher Ms. Hitchcock. She’s brand new, right out of college, with lots of enthusiasm and excited to teach the kids. She’ll do a great job! Jonathan warmed up to her pretty quick!
Today we got up early mostly because Sean was sick. He’s got a 24hr bug of some sort. Jonathan was fine so I decided to go ahead and send him to school. But he missed the bus! Partly my fault, because I thought it was coming later. He was completely ready with his backpack on for 30 minutes. We were in the living room and all the sudden a bus zipped by. He didn’t even bother to stop! So I thought, well maybe it was just one of the other buses. But sure enough 30 minutes later, Jonathan was still waiting. So I drove him out to the school. So here are a couple pictures from this morning’s wait!

4 months
August 17, 2009Megan had her 4 month checkup today! She is 12 lbs. 3 oz. and 24 1/8 inches long … just right!

Family Reunion
August 15, 2009I’m finally getting these up from last weekend! We had Shane’s family reunion last Saturday at Yuba Lake. We rented a boat and everyone got to go out on the lake. They had wakeboards and a tube. Most of my pictures on the lake are of kids being flung to and fro on the tube! I think they had some fun! Thanks to Kirston for getting it all put together!
So here are a few of my favorites. There are a LOT more pictures here for those interested (i.e. not many of you… unless you want to see Jenny flying through the air!)

Fundraiser event
August 14, 2009
My nephew’s wife (which makes her my neice-in-law!) Laurie, is doing a fundraiser for her father who has cancer. She asked around for volunteers, and I said I would do some sewing for her. Then I thought I could also donate some of my other talents in photography. So I offered to donate two portrait sessions to be raffled at the fundraiser.

Walking around Costco… sampling the goodies for dinner… where is the beef bullion?… Oh we need some nesquik… Is that Kiera Haddock?… I recognize that guy, it’s her husband… and her two cute kids…
I’m a blog lurker, it’s true! I love reading other photographer’s blogs. It gives me inspiration and insight into their lives as photographers. I learn so much, not just technically, but why they take the photographs that they did. I lurk on Kiera’s site!
Should I go up to her?… she has no idea who I am… where are the band-aids… maybe they are over there where Kiera is… should I say hi?… well she won’t ever know… walk on by…
…
My total is how much?!!!… never shopping again!… there goes the shoes I wanted… must get a slice of combo pizza… and there is Kiera with her family at the food court… ok, I’ll do it!
“You’re Kiera, right?”….. I did it! I told her I recognized her from her blog. We had a nice little chat, and I promised that I would make myself known on her blog!
It’s fun making new friends!
Welcome to the new blog-site!
August 10, 2009Thanks to all of you that checked in on Friday! Now for the rest of you…
Yes, it’s a blog and a website in one!
But on to the good news for you… I’m giving away 2 free portrait sessions, and 1 free 8×10 fine art print! Now what do you need to do to win? Keep on reading.
Rules:
- You can’t just “comment”… you need to tell me what your favorite thing about the blog-site is!
- The first two people to comment get a free portrait session (family, child or engagement).
- The third person to comment gets the fine art print of any of my photographs, or one from a session they book.
For those of you that care… Jonathan wants you to know he is six!

My favorite part was the Secret Garden! They made it just like in the book! I was giddy with excitement walking through the tunnel.
