A family wedding!

August 31, 2010

My neice was married on Friday, and it was such a beautiful day! Until the wind and rain picked up right before the reception :) But they all survived. I took a few pictures at the temple that I thought I would share with you. Enjoy! If you want to see the rest you can click here.

Art prints for sale!

July 10, 2010

I updated my Fine Art Prints page here on the blog. Go on over and check out what I currently have in stock, or let me know if you want something else that you have seen on my site.

You must agree, that I do have some pretty darn cute kids!  I wanted to update our wall with some new pictures of the kids.  I’ll use one from this shoot with Jonathan, and one from this shoot with Megan.  But I needed to get some of Sean.  Megan had just had a bath and smelled pretty, so I took her out too!

These turned out great!  The light in the orchard is just perfect in the evening.  I’m kind of sad though because they are taking the trees out in August.  They were planted when I was 7 or 8 years old so they are ready to come out.  But I won’t be able to just go outside my backyard and take some fun pictures like this anymore.  I’m trying to do it a lot this summer before they are gone!  So, if you’ve been wanting some pictures like these, you should setup a time to come play in our orchard!

I can’t believe I let this go for this long! There really isn’t enough time in the day to get everything done though. Especially with Jonathan home all day. Hopefully he gets adjusted to being home soon, and will stop whining about things that he gets to do (like unloading the dishwasher). Kids!

Anyway, here are a few highlights from the last couple of weeks. I’ll try to keep up on this a little better!
5.25.10 Jonathan’s hair cut for crazy hair day at school.

6.13.10 I’m just glad I’m not the only one who lays things out on special days! I saw this at Alisa’s today before the baby blessing and had to grab my camera. So cute :)

Whew! I made it… and so did you ;) Please keep coming back for more!

My first book!

June 8, 2010

I have finally put together a book of my fine art photographs.   It’s called “My Rural Life” and is a collection of images mostly around my home, and surrounding areas.  They are all still life, or landscape photographs. It took a while to put it together.  Part of that was just daily life: laundry, cleaning, kids wanting to eat.  But mostly it was coming up with a title!  I’m not much of a writer, and titles are hard!

So here is a preview of the book.  My copy is coming in the mail next week!  I can’t wait to have it in my hands and be able to see my work printed!  If you want a copy of your own, it’s easy, just click on “Buy”.

p.s. If there are enough people interested I can do a group order and get a 10% discount for 10 or more books.  Leave a comment here if you want to do that.

Birthday “days”

June 6, 2010

So, here are a few of the activities over the weekend of Jonathan’s birthday.

Birthday cake.  Jonathan wanted to have cake and ice cream at Grandma Perry’s with all (most) of his cousins.  So we made it a day early.  He wanted yellow cake with blue icing. (Not the yucky icing, but cream cheese frosting, yum!)

He blew out all but two of his candles.  How come you didn’t tell me you had two girlfriends, Jonathan?!Jonathan got a buzz cut!  He wanted one for the summer and since he had a “J” shaved on his head for crazy hair day we had to finish out the rest.Jonathan was buried in the garden by his cousins.  He had a lot of fun getting all dirty!  And then had a bath afterword.Jonathan enjoyed his treasure hunt from last year and asked if he could do it again.   So on his actual birthday Shane put together a little hunt for him.And he found his present in my purse :)   Lego Indiana Jones.Grandma and Grandpa Garner came up for leftover cake and ice cream, and had a book for him.

Jonathan turned 7!

June 3, 2010

So I took these pictures over a week ago because I knew it would be crazy trying to get them over the Holiday weekend.  So here are a bunch of my faves from our little session!  I let him just kind of play around and didn’t tell him to do much.  It’s fun to just catch his BIG young mind working. :)

Next up, Jonathan’s actual birthday celebrations.

If you want pictures like this for your kids, then give me a call!

So I’ve been pretty busy, or lazy, however you want to look at it!  I just haven’t blogged my pictures this last week so I am catching up, again…

5.18.10  I was drawn to the clouds laying low next to the mountain in the distance.

5.19.20 It turns out this is the last of the dandelions, for now, since they mowed the orchard the next day.

5.20.10  Jonathan got hit by the ball on his finger, ouch!

5.21.10 Sean likes to get out ALL the games in the cupboard.  This is what was left out for the night.

5.23.10  It started raining, and rained all night and we woke up to snow the next morning.  Yikes!

5.24.10  I wanted to get some pictures of Jonathan for his 7th birthday.  Is he really getting that big?!  I’ll post more later.

Quilt festival

May 22, 2010

I decided to enter Amy’s Creative side quilt festival.  I stumbled upon her blog from Shane’s cousin’s wife, who also likes to quilt, but just does it more often, and a lot better!

So you’ve all seen this quilt of insanity before but it is my favorite.  I made it for Megan as her baby quilt.  I made each of the kids one before they were born.  This one took 3 months of about 6-8 hours a day to finish.  It is all paper pieced and hand quilted.  The binding was even done all by  hand because I wanted to keep all the hexagons rather than trimming a straight edge.

Here is a closeup.

My mother-in-law asked me if I was going to let her use it.  I said I would once in a while.  She actually didn’t see it for a couple months while it was on display at the Springville MOA last summer, and when it got back I decided to just hang it on the wall above her dresser.

Thanks for looking!

So we have some pretty silly kids!  Here is the proof…

5.15.10  Sean wanted to be out in the field with Jonathan.  Then he saw grandma and grandpa and ran right between the hitter and the catcher!

Jonathan was waiting for his turn to hit.  But he wasn’t very “ready” to catch the balls!
Here he is actually hitting it!  They had a pitching machine for the Hit-a-Thon to raise money for baseball.  He got 10 out of 20!  Not bad :)

5.17.10
Megan had the craziest hair-do! I did her hair earlier in a pony-tail and clipped it down so it wasn’t sticking straight up. After her nap, and after dinner, this is what she looked like!
